1969 Camaro Rally Sport ZL-1 427

This fantastic recreation of 1969 Camaro ZL-1 Car #55 is an outstanding example of such a rare and desirable Camaro. I am the founder and owner of Heartbeat City Camaro. I personally acquired this car and decided to make a replica of one of my favorite 1969 ZL-1 Camaros car #55.

Generally motors produced 2 1969 Camaro Rally Sport ZL-1s out of 69 cars. Car #55 and Car #68 are both Rally Sports. I love them so much that I built one of each. The Cortez Silver example is also shown on this site.

When assembling such an example of a very rare Camaro, one must always remember that the car you start with needs to meet or exceed all others. This particular car is no different. Originally this Camaro was a simple 350 car with 27,000 original miles. She was well maintained her whole life. This car features all the original GM born with sheet metal and all the body panels have the date codes and are factory to this car. The hood was an NOS GM part as this Camaro was not sold new with RPO ZL2 Cowl Induction.

We started on this car back in 2019 and completed the restoration in the summer of 2020. The vehicle shows 147 miles since restoration. It still shows as new. Top Quality with no excuses.

I personally do not believe in using anything imported on cars of this caliber. Simple items are acceptable, however, all components are real 1969 Vintage ZL-1 and real GM parts. I will list all examples at the bottom of this description.

The original body was outstanding to say the least. No body work, no rust, never rusted never repaired. The floor pans are outstanding and free from dents and damage. This Camaro was indeed a full frame off restoration. All original GM moldings, no reproductions. All original Rally Sport components except the hose kit.

Now on to the most important part:  The 427 ZL-1 Engine. This particular engine was in my original #40 Fathom Green ZL-1 prior to me locating the original engine to the #40 car.  When I purchased #40's original born with engine and finally had it rebuild and made proper for installation, we removed this engine from #40 and used it in this Camaro.
