SURVIVOR  1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS 396-375 hp L-89

Aluminum Head Car

Fathom Green Original Paint

Heartbeat City is pleased to offer this extremely rare survivor unrestored Fathom Green 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS 396-375 HP L-89 Aluminum head car with 26,110 original miles. This Camaro has the original JJ coded 396-375 HP Aluminum head engine, Original Muncie M-21 4 Speed transmission, and Original 4.10 BV rear axle assembly. All of which are the very same drive train that General Motors installed in the car at the Norwood Ohio factory assembly plant in January of 1969.

Factory Options: 1969 Camaro all original SS 396-375 hp, L-89 Aluminum heads, 4 speed Muncie Close ratio transmission, 4.10 BV coded Posi traction rear end, Standard black interior, fast ratio steering, front & rear spoiler package, heavy duty 4 core Harrison radiator, console with gauges, dash mounted 6000/7000 tachometer, center dash mounted clock, and Rally wheels.

Engine:  The original engine pad stamping T1221JJ and original VIN number 19N575023 is still intact on the side of the engine block. The very last pictures in this auction show close up views of the engine VIN and Transmission VIN. This is not a re-stamped or bogus engine in any way shape or form. Please see the paragraph below for our letter of authenticity.

Transmission:  The M-21 Close Ratio transmission is the original Muncie that General Motors installed in the car at the factory in 1969. The production date on the side of the transmission is P9T28. This indicates the transmission was assembled on December 28th, 1969.

Rear Axle: The original 4.10 BV coded rear axle is still in the car and has never been removed to my knowledge. The casting date on the housing is A-3-9. This means the housing was casted on January 3rd 1969. The assembly date is BV0108G1 E. The assembly date stamping means the rear axle was assembled on January 8th 1969 and the BV indicates a 4.10 Posiwas installed. The G stands for Gear and Axle Plant. The “E” indicates Eaton for the positraction unit. Please see pictures for a close up view of the axle production date.

Body & Sheet metal: All body panels are genuine GM original parts. The floor pan, trunk pan, and rocker panels are all original GM and have not been replaced or patched. No sheet metal or body panels have ever been removed or replaced on this car.

Interior:  The Standard black interior in this car is the original front and rear standard black seat covers, Original front & rear door panels, and all trim are original. The seat foams and seat backs are original and nice. Please see all pictures of the interior. The steering wheel in crack free and still retains all of the original pebble grain on the edge of the wheel. The carpet was replaced a few years back.

Suspension: This Camaro still has all of the original front and rear suspension parts from the sub-frame bushings to the leaf springs. Nothing has been altered or changed in any way except the shock absorbers have been changed to none spiral shocks at one point in the car's life.

History:
I found this Camaro in Novi Michigan back in 1994. One of my friends told me about the car. I waited all week to go view the car. Needless to say, I was stunned to find such a rare car in this condition. It is not often that you find a car this rare and this original. I checked every casting number, casting date, and every code. The only components I couldn't solve were the wheels. None of the wheels on the car are dated or coded for this car. I suspect the original wheels were the XT stamped steel base wheel. I never thought to ask any of the previous owners about the wheels that would have come on the car from the factory. In 1994 I wrote to the State of Michigan department of motor vehicles. At that time, they would furnish you with all the previous owners, titles, and registrations both front and back, and ownership history. The owner history is intact and will be provided to the purchaser. I still have the receipt for all the history, and certifications from the State of Michigan. Due to the Privacy Act, we can no longer obtain such information. I have all of it for this car.
